Terry is a composer, conductor, tubist, actor and teacher. He graduated from The University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Music Education in 1984 and a Bachelor of Education in 1985. He led dynamic instrumental and vocal programming at Blenheim District High School for 30 1/2 years in addition to teaching other subjects. Terry has acted as musical director in more than 20 shows with Theatre Kent, Good Times Productions, Ridge Players, and BDHS productions. His acting endeavours include singing roles with groups such as Korda productions, improvised roles in murder mysteries and His Majesty’s Feasts around southern Ontario, and many roles with the Purple Theatre Company of Windsor. In the latter’s production of The Man Who Fell in Love with the Tuba, he acted in the main role in addition to being the inspiration for the play!
Terry McConnell currently performs with the Chatham Concert Band, the Primitive Roots Jazz Band, and the Occasional Five Plus One Brass Sextet.
