Let Us Help You Answer Your Questions
Please review the FAQs below and if you have any further questions, please email info@adullam.ca or go to the Contact Form and submit your question. We hope you’re having a great day!
Where is your camp located?
Adullam Camps offers many different types of camps, requiring a variety of facilities. We rent campgrounds throughout Ontario based on the needs of individual events. The location of each camp, as well as a map to the site can be found on each event’s individual webpage. The letter sent out a few weeks before the event will include more detailed information.
What type of camps do you run?
We run a variety of different styles of programs. Some are specifically related to leadership development, and some are to simply learn a new skill or spend time in nature and with friends. In general, we can categorize our programs as Day Camp programs and Overnight Camp Programs.
Day Camps typically run from 9AM – 4PM. Parents/guardians/trusted adults that are listed on the camper’s registration must sign their campers in at the beginning of camp and out at the end of camp each day. You can add more people to this list on the registration form. Please don’t drop your kids off any earlier than 8:45AM and we ask that your kids be picked up by 4:15PM at the latest.
Overnight Camps – It is important to read your camp newsletter thoroughly so that you pack all the necessary items for your camper in order for them to be prepared and have the best experience while away at camp! We understand that being away from home can be a huge step for some campers and it is natural for people to feel ‘out of their comfort zone’ when staying away from home. We do everything possible to help our campers feel welcomed, safe, and part of the community. We do not typically have campers contact their parents, but you can stay up to date with your child through photos/videos that we will share through email and social media. If you must get in contact with your child, you can text/call 226-626-9607
How do I request my child be placed in a cabin with a friend?
Please indicate this on the online registration form. Both campers should list each other as the preferred cabin mate.
What should my child bring to camp?
Each camp requires different skill specific items. In the month of June, all families will receive a letter from the camp director of the camp to which they are registered with a list of required materials.
What will I need to bring when I drop off my child?
For registration, all campers will need to bring a their health card number and all necessary medications, labelled with their name.
Will my child like the food?
Yes! The cooks at Adullam Camps have a reputation for excellence. They prepare nutritious and filling meals that kids like to eat. If your child has a food allergy that was noted on the registration form, the camp cook will contact you personally a few weeks before the event to ensure your child’s allergies are clearly understood.
How do you handle medical emergencies?
Each staff member holds their Standard or Emergency First Aid qualifications. The camp nurse is responsible for handling prescription and non-prescription medication. Parents/Guardians will be notified in the case of injury needing doctor’s attention, head injury or illness such as the flu.
How can I contact my child while they are at camp?
A letter from each camp director will be emailed to families a few weeks before the event. Contact information will be outlined in this letter. The letter will also be posted on each camp’s individual webpage.
Our general camp phone number is 226-626-9607 (text/call) and it is often onsite at camp to allow campers/parents to contact each other if necessary.
How is the staff hired?
The Adullam staff is simply amazing! The team members have been carefully selected to ensure your child has a safe, fun and memorable week at camp.
There are four basic criteria that are considered when selecting the members of our summer team:
- Christian Commitment and Maturity: Adullam staff members are committed Christians who demonstrate a maturing faith in Jesus.
- Leadership and Teamwork Skills: The Staff members are given extensive training and opportunities to put this training into practice. Applicants who are selected for the team demonstrate leadership and teamwork qualities both at camp and in their local communities.
- Camp-Related Skills: Adullam Camps provide instruction in a wide variety of disciplines. Staff are chosen based on their abilities and experience with things such as art, drama, music, hockey, French, lifeguarding, and canoeing.
- Interest in Children & Youth: All staff demonstrate a high level of ability in relating to children. They are able to make all campers feel welcome whether this is your child’s first or hundredth time at camp.
How is the staff trained?
Adullam Camps Leadership Program is one of a kind in North America. It uses a multi- year apprenticeship model to train young people for Christ-centred leadership in their churches, youth groups, schools, and communities. Training sessions include: Emergency procedures, Caring for Campers with Special Needs, How to Lead a Session/Chapel/Campfire/Game, Conflict Resolution, Bible Study, Hospitality at Camp, Communication and so much more.
Can my child bring a cell phone or personal electronic device?
Adullam values meaningful, undistracted time to truly ‘retreat’ from the world and be present in nature and camp community. That is why we run all of our programs as ‘unplugged’ as possible. This means that all campers, volunteers, and staff are asked to not bring their personal electronic devices or cell phones to camp. If participants need to bring them to contact people before/after camp, they may do so, and then all staff and campers will hand in their devices at opening registration. These will be kept in a safe, secure place and will be handed back after camp closing. Some adults and directors will have their devices on them in case of emergencies. If you need to get in contact with your child, you can text/call our camp cellphone: 226-626-9607.
What happens if it rains?
We will almost never cancel a program due to poor weather conditions. Camping is all about being prepared, being flexible, and building resiliency. When rain or poor weather is in the forecast, our directors will implement backup plans to keep camp safe and fun. We have safety procedures in place for storms, high winds, etc. The best way your child can be prepared is to send them with waterproof rain-wear (especially a rain jacket), waterproof shoes (such as flip flops or Crocs) and/or an extra change of clothes.
