April is a retired high school music, drama and English teacher who taught at various high schools in the Waterloo Region. April attended the University of Western Ontario and Althouse College of Education and obtained a Bachelor of Music in music education and a diploma in education. She has been involved with Choral Camp as a section leader and director of the Intermediate Choir since 1980 and has led sessions at Art, Drama, Music Camp (formerly Drama Camp) since 2000.
April plays piano and organ at Bridgeport United Church, Kitchener, and at her home church, Highland Baptist Kitchener, where she also led the Junior Choir for 25 years. She is a former conductor of the Breslau Bloomingdale Merryhill Band and currently plays baritone in that band. She has sung in choirs at the University of Western Ontario, First United Church Waterloo, Highland Baptist Church, and the K-W Philharmonic Choir. April has a busy piano studio in her home, and especially enjoys helping young musicians become excited about music.
